Program description

The Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies: “Management Applications” pathway combines BIS Core courses with coursework, minors, and/or certificates in at least two of five skill-driven clusters:

The curriculum is flexible. Students, in consultation with their BIS advisor, can make changes to the recommended courses taken at VCU. Please note that the Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies is not awarded by the School of Business. Non-business majors at VCU are allowed to complete up to 30 credits of coursework offered by the School of Business, including transfer credit. 

This pathway positions students for a range of careers depending on their choice of coursework: management in public, private, and entrepreneurial settings, data analytics, law enforcement, business ownership and creation, and more. Some coursework requires declaring a minor to access, and some minors require a minimum GPA. Advisors in the Interdisciplinary Studies program will help you navigate those requirements. Upon graduation, students will be awarded the Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies and likely 1-2 minors or certificates.

BIS graduates with a focus in “Management Applications” are well prepared to seek employment in corporate, nonprofit and government agencies.
